Why can't I install all OSes on a VPS with 1 GB RAM?

Operating systems keep increasing the required specifications to run. Because some OSs require more RAM, VPSs with 1GB (and sometimes 2GB) can unfortunately not install certain OSs.

Currently, this applies to the following OSs, with the minimum amount of memory required indicated between the brackets.

    • AlmaLinux (3GB)
    • Arch Linux (3GB)
    • CentOS Stream (4GB)
    • Fedora (2GB)
    • Fedora CoreOS (3GB)
    • OpenSUSE (2GB)
    • Rocky Linux (3GB)

AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux require more than 2GB for a manual installation (this doesn't apply to installations using a one time pass, ssh-keys, or cloud-config file). You can use a RAM add-on for this purpose instead of upgrading your VPS as a whole.
