    What is a SandboxVPS

This article relates to the VPS types as offered by TransIP before May 2025 and is only intended as a reference for customers who still use this type of VPS. The current VPS types allow you to flexibly adjust all specifications. A distinction is therefore no longer necessary, see this page for more information.

A SandboxVPS is a type of VPS aimed at developers who'd like to develop and test ideas for a competative price. To achieve this, the SandboxVPS uses IPv6 exclusively, has a smaller disk than its bigger brothers the BladeVPS or PerformanceVPS and comes without automatic backups or TCP monitoring.

With the exception of CPU, RAM, IPv4 addresses and SSD add-ons, your SandboxVPS can make use of trusted addons such as a snapshot (limit of one), Big Storage, the VPS-firewall in het controlepaneel, private networks and HA-IP (Pro).

When you'd like to bring your SandboxVPS into production or increase its resources, the SandboxVPS can at all times be upgraded to a BladeVPS or PerformanceVPS by bringing it into production. We'll then produce a copy of your SandboxVPS on a new BladeVPS or PerformanceVPS. More information about this process can be found in this tutorial.
